Guided Tour Of San Luis De Los Franceses Church
On this tour, we will learn about the Society of Jesus and the origin of this temple when it served as a novitiate where young aspiring Jesuits began their ecclesiastical careers. This building, which features paintings that are often mistaken for faux architectural elements, is a delight to behold.
Once inside the temple, we will visit the church, the domestic chapel, a small chapel that was the first temple of the institution, and the crypt, which was later used as a burial place for both men and women and even children during the time when it was used as an orphanage.
We will finish our visit in the archaeological garden, decorated with the amphorae that were recovered during the church’s restoration.
